Go Blazers?
Here is something I don't understand, how does a town like Portland (all of Oregon really) get so down on the blazers? I mean, they had 22 playoff seasons in a row, and in about 1-2 years, people are so completely out of touch that they don't even realize how awesome this team is, and will be. What happened to the love? Yes, they had a stretch where the players and fans had a disconnect, but as soon as those are gone why does it persist? Do people not know that sports are like this all over the country? There are bad apples in any basket, we had a couple extra and tossed them.
Maybe I am seeing this differently because I am such a big fan, but it doesn't make rational sense. This is the only pro franchise the state has, and if you haven't been reading papers then you should know that sports franchises are holding their cities ransom for stadiums, and other perks, while the blazers do not. Paul Allen paid for the stadium, can you name another team that has an owner that has done that recently? ok, so they had some bad personnel, but why abandon them when they have given you so many years of excellence? I am getting too pushy here and not to the point...
All I am saying, is watch some games, listen to the games on the radio, pay attention, get back into it fans. I remember days when this team brought a city and state together. We all hung up "BEAT LA" signs in our windows, and sang "Bust a bucket".. Those were the days, and I know they can't come back, but the fans can and should.
So as I wrap this up I probably should have mentioned they are 3-3 and had a great win on Wednesday night at home to take the NW division lead. It made me sad to see the stands so empty, because they are really great to watch, and great for this city. GO BLAZERS!
